Approach

Since 1983, Image Aiguë has carried out 34 original creations, presented around a 1000 times in more than 230 places in 27 different countries. The work of the company has been hosted in institutional as well as alternative places in Europe and in the world: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, the Check Republic, China, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Macedonia, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland Turkey, Thailand and United States.

The Company Image Aiguë was created in 1983 by Christiane Véricel, together with some twenty artistes (comedians, stage decorators, musicians...), technicians and administrators according to her theatrical approach which offers a double originality. First of all, performances are not established on a preset text, but rather on a combination of music text and image.

Secondly, in all creations children and youngsters of all nationalities acte together with adults: leaving in France or abroad, natives or immigrants, on stage they use their mother tongue. The creations are the fruit of encounters on stage between the group of Image Aiguë’s artists and teenagers or comedians met along these trips.

“ Everyone, whatever his age, can find himself in these performances bringing up a style :  there, if one needs references, you can meet Robert Wilson with the preference for image to speech and Peter Brook for the belief in a miscegenation of actors. What comes out is a magnificent theatre, playful, sensitive and bared by the wings of a beautiful desire: to make a bigger world with children’s presence on stage.”
 Brigitte Salino, Le Monde

“What unforgettable moments and atmospheres with children on stage, acting without any touch of sentimentality. Christiane Véricel builds a theatre of moods and sensations, aiming towards sensitivity and that doesn’t clutter up one’s mind with starchy speeches. It’s not a manifesto but just simply Art” Armelle Héliot, Le Figaro
