Forum Lyon, "A soul for Europe"

« A soul for Europe», as a project of the civil society, puts forward the power of culture in influencing the development of Europe as well as the policies of the European Union. It includes all politic levels, starting from the towns and the regions to the national and European levels.

The Initiative “A soul for Europe” weaves an international network through out the world of culture, business and politics. It’s the occasion to set up the project “forum X” and to encourage European citizens and political decision makers to concretely participate in the debate on Europe. As an integral part of this approach, Image Aiguë co-organised a Forum in partnership with “A soul for Europe” and the Meritis foundation. After Belgrade, Pécs and Skopje, the Lyon Forum was the first to be organised in Western Europe On the 10th and 11th of October 2008, the Célestins, Theatre of Lyon received political decision makers, civil society and cultural actors coming from all Europe.Jo Leinen and Hannes Swoboda represented the European parliament. Some other guests also came to Lyon representing more than 20 nationalities: Catherine Lalumière (House of Europe in Paris), Odile Quintin (European Commission DG EAC), Patricio Bianchi (CRUI Foundation/University of Ferrara and Jacky Darne (Grand Lyon)
